Cathy is a contemporary artist approaching the end of a career as a professional botanist and now focussing on additions to a 40 year painting history. Following recent study, she is discovering a new level of freedom and imagination in her art, finding her way through a web of new ideas.
She continues to explore twin themes of botany and figure-work linked, at times, in unexpected ways to create a subtle level of humour and ambiguity. She uses strongly outlined and stylised forms, often with vivid colour and bold botanical accuracy.
She is happy to take commissions.
Her home-based Studio/Gallery in Nelson is now open every Wednesday from 10am to 5pm. See Contact tab for details.
Recent News: Large painting "Conversation Piece IV" has been selected for the Impressions National Art Award.
